Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to announce the 9th JCS Council Forum on Basic Cardiovascular Research (BCVR), which will be held as BCVR2025 on December 13 and 14, 2025, at the Miyako Messe Convention Center in Kyoto.
From 2022 to 2024, BCVR was organized in collaboration with other societies as part of the Cardiovascular Metabolism Week (CVMW). This year marks the first standalone event in four years, providing a unique opportunity to refocus on the foundational goals of this forum.
Over the past decades, remarkable progress has been achieved in the field of cardiovascular medicine. Nevertheless, many challenges remain. Notable examples include the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of heart failure in an aging society. In addition, unresolved issues persist in addressing vascular diseases, congenital heart disorders, sarcoidosis, amyloidosis, myocarditis, mitochondrial disorders, and cardiovascular complications associated with cancer therapy. Now, more than ever, collaboration among clinicians and researchers involved in cardiovascular medicine, along with partnerships across academia, industry, and government, is essential to tackle these critical issues.
To address these pressing issues, we have decided the theme: "Integrating Legacy and Innovation in Medical Science." This theme reflects Kyoto as a place where rich historical traditions coexist harmoniously with a spirit of innovation.
We are honored to welcome distinguished researchers from around the world and are proud to present a diverse program that includes keynote lectures, award ceremonies, and poster presentations. Through the exchange of innovative ideas and cutting-edge research, we aim to foster advancements in cardiovascular research that will ultimately contributes to better patient outcomes.
In closing, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to all the colleagues and supporters who have contributed to the organization of this forum. Your dedication and efforts have been invaluable in bringing this event to fruition.
